1/6 scale model of a typical apartment building from the world of Bird People. The building is constructed from 16x24x24” wooden boxes stacked in a grid, containing
miniature people and furniture composed of foam core and other mixed media. Patrons can look through the outward facing windows of each flat to see an array of vignettes playing out within.
These include: a “lizard party” held by the secretive Carnation Society; a subversive film theatre; a dentist’s office; a violin maestro and the irritated family living under them; a room inexplicably filled with treasure chests, and others.William Bessai-Saul, BFA, is an artist, cartoonist, and filmmaker based in Regina, Saskatchewan (Treaty 4).
