“The Preparation” is a mixed reality, performative and immersive installation comprised of shifting, cinematic screens and avatar interactions with 3d2 Pintens in Second Life. The project continues to explore the idea of field art as a platform for research and experimentation.
The installation merges experiences in Second Life with real world activities in a gallery. It is a lateral research project based on exploring and understanding the virtual self in new animated worlds as if to predict the scenarios of a virtual consciousness. The project engages the idea of a vector field as one where the in-world Curator, 3d2 Pintens lives and explores concepts around Web 3.0 and other lived experiences as lateral thinking.
The cinematic screens in the castle gallery are screen shots from the avatar interacting with a black monolith while working out the difficulties of in-world streaming and real world curating against the consumerist, consumption model.
