METALPOINT & VIBRATIONTABLE

METALPOINT & VIBRATIONTABLE
John Noestheden
July 7 – August 4, 2001

By opening the space for engagement, these artworks are “…mechanisms for reminding us all that observing is only half as real as getting involved, that action is a cure for reaction.”1 The two objects in this presentation are structured as performance instruments that solicit responses. By choosing to participate, the viewer becomes a performer and therefore part of an authentic artistic experience. While each interaction reveals a specific duration, the apparently random frequency of that encounter connects these works to Chaos Theory.
