Marie Chouinard

After her studies in ballet, theatre, modern dance, tai chi, releasing techniques, contact improvisation and participation in workshops and informal performances, Maire Chouinard began in 1978 to train and work alone. Since that time she has created 30 works, ranging from 90 seconds to 90 minutes: performances, choreographies, films, videos, drawings, installations, texts.
Marie has been invited to perform her dance work in various festivals, art galleries, museums, etc. in Canada, the United Stares and Europe. She has recently returned from an eight month trip through Asia. This past June she presented the premiere of “Table of Contents” and “Earth-quake in the Heartchakra” at the prestigious Amsterdam Festival. Tonight’s performances is the Canadian premiere of these two works.
An independent choreographer, she dances solo and interprets only her own pieces.
