Continuing with Neutral Ground’s first iteration of the membership residency, Miles Nowhere will be the next resident in NG’s space!
Miles Nowhere is multi-disciplinary mixed-media artist creating expressive, provoking, and raw artwork in a range of visual mediums including, abstract painting, street & portrait photography, and video films. Miles Nowhere, best known by the recording alias ‘mileshigh’, is a Canadian musician and producer of Alternative-indie electronic, punk, & rock music. Born in Calgary, Alberta, currently based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
My work is often a cycle of experimenting & repetition until i create something that gives me a feeling of curiosity and satisfaction. My work is an expression of the moment, sometimes i leave and come back to a piece until i decide on what mark to make, sometimes all the decisions happen at once. Its not a mindless process or one where i escape, im very aware of my thoughts and feelings when i begin to create something. My experiences, observations, memories and feelings are the foundation of my work. Sometimes i can pick and choose which to pull from but sometimes i can’t. Sometimes i have to surrender to what my subconscious wants to let out. I think its more my subconscious creating at times, even when i’m making the decisions, like to record something from life i saw on the walk over to my studio or a dialogue i overheard at the cafe i sat in for an hour.
My current body of work will be available for public viewing Friday, August 16th during my residency with Neutral Ground Artist Run Centre.
