“Lounge Garden” part of the Secret Gardens Tour
This year, Neutral Ground is celebrating “The Healing Garden” as part of New Dance Horizons’ Secret Gardens Tour, a self-guided pilgrimage through some of Regina’s most accomplished privately-owed gardens. As an added dimension, garden dances honour the ephemeral qualities shared by garden and dance.
“Lounge Garden” is a performance/ installation that explores ideas surrounding leisure and work time, the restorative properties of relaxation, synthetic nature and constructed environments. The work poses questions such as: Can artifice and beauty co-exist? To what degree and to what end do we shape our natural environments? When does relaxation become arduous or stressful; when does leisure become work?
Blair Fornwald and Anna Scott have been working together since 2002 within the national performance collective One Night Only and have presented works in various festivals and centres across Canada, including LIVE (Vancouver), Annual Symposium of Perfomance Art (Sackville, NB), VisualEyez (Edmonton) and Fado Performance Inc. (Toronto). Both pursue separate and collaborative practices in performance, interdisciplinary visual art and dance.
Please feel free to explore the space at your leisure – you may stay for as little or as long as you wish. Thank you for visiting the lounge garden.
