In search of a communal care; in conversation with Sarah Mihara Creagen

This conversation was crafted in response to the exhibition “Toxic Bodies, an ongoing project of thinking through bioremediation and experiences of chronic illness” & “The Drawing Clinic” Performance by Sarah Mihara Creagen at Neutral Ground Artist-Run Centre, October – November 23, 2024.
Sarah Mihara Creagen is a white passing mixed-race Japanese Canadian queer artist born in Nova Scotia and currently based in Toronto. Her practice consists of research into intersecting histories of the medical system and botany, and considers these topics through personal experiences of queerness, chronic illness and disability while living with Crohn’s Disease. Sarah received her MFA in 2018 from Hunter College (NYC).
Narges Porsandekhial (she/her) is a Persian polydisciplinary creator with an MFA from the University of Saskatchewan. Her work spans installation, socially engaged practices, public art, text-based projects, and the realm of research-creation. Narges explores the repetition of daily life activities through conceptual and social lenses, addressing mental health issues and engaging in institutional critique.
