Ember Rayne |the ‘B’ stands for BOTHERED
Ember Rayne (they/she) is a white, queer, nonbinary, and disabled settler artist living and learning in Treaty 4 Territory. They are currently studying Women and Gender studies and are interested in challenging and queering understandings of art, play, and videogame design. Ember Rayne enjoys using needlework and digital technology to creatively explore and showcase significant influences on their identity.
Inspired by the academic work of Bo Ruberg, as well as a variety of other scholars of queerness and video games, I decided to create a video game that is designed with the intention to queer and subvert common expectations of video games. This includes, but is not limited to, my decision to abandon the traditional concept of ‘winning’ or ‘losing’.
